We made a quick weekend trip to the Owen's this past weekend.  Scott and I flew while George chased.  I had a really nice time running down the Sierra's, nice thermals and mellow cumi's.  The only problem was that my radio jumped off frequency right at the beginning and I had no radio for the whole flight.  George and I had discussed the cell phone option early, so I kept flying.

I got to 16,500 at Birch Peak and crossed the valley to Black.  I arrived at a comfortable 8700' and climbed to 11,200 before flying over to the Flynn's LZ for about 65 miles.  I knew I had cell phone coverage there along with a shade tree and cool water to dangle my feet in just in case the retrieve took awhile.  George picked me up and we followed Scott on to Janie's giving him a 102 mile flight.

Sunday sucked.  I thought I had the radio problem figured out, but after suiting up and hooking in, I couldn't get the damn thing to transmit.  Hot, sweaty and frustrated along with a dead battery in George's cell led me to give it up, so I broke down.  Scott didn't get very far anyway, landing just north of the Alabama's.

Great fun for a short trip. Thanks again, George.
