[Amigo] > [John Fletcher's flight index] Incident Report postings from John Fletcher's injury at The Grade (in order of posting time stamp)
Ventura County Star Injured paraglider rescued An injured Somis man was hoisted into a helicopter Tuesday in Camarillo after his paraglider "violently slammed into" the side of Conejo Mountain, said Sgt. Dave Kenney of the Ventura County Sheriff's Department. John Fletcher was paragliding when he lost altitude and flew into the mountain, seriously injuring himself, officials said. The Sheriff's Department's rescue unit responded at 4:31 p.m. and found Fletcher lying about 900 feet over the side of Conejo Mountain, an area inaccessible by ground personnel, authorities said. The helicopter hoisted down a rescue crew chief and flight paramedic, both of whom traversed down the mountain to reach Fletcher. Fletcher then received "on-scene advanced life support" before being hoisted up to the helicopter and taken to the emergency room at Los Robles Hospital & Medical Center in Thousand Oaks, Kenney said. No hospital spokesman was available for comment.
