Sorry, not time to log the weather, but Tom Pipkin got to 8,300. Good lapse rate and soarable without direct sun. Plenty of OD and light wind. Pam gave strict orders, no flying today. I'd flown on Friday and Saturday and that was enough. She was off to a birthday party with Tess about 10:30. Sam & I promptly got on the phone looking for ballast. Josie's mom Terri said sure and we there to pick her up in 15 minutes... it's cold, zero degrees at 6K, so send her with plenty of clothes, a "warm jacket" and her bike helmet. Josie's dad Jim opted to come along to chaperone and we can always use crew. On launch we went to dress Josie in her "warm jacket" only to find a flimsy sweatshirt, so she needed to wear dad's. Jim took the stills and some video also. We few with full ballast and were still way light. Fortunately, it was mellow back in the shade. Got up at launch and cruised over the rocks at the R&R. Back to the Factory and out to the beach from cloudbase with 37. The kids seemed to have a blast. Sam was way more chatty with a friend along. I think Josie liked the view. Landing on the grass at the beach across from the Rainbow Arch. Kids meals at Hamburger Habit. Tore a tire on a rock driving down, so Jim missed the landing. I checked the pin on the reserve, and thought I check the handle also, but maybe not. I'll double check next time.
