Hadn't flown in a couple of months.  Was out of town for 50 days, and doing family/xmas stuff when I got back, then I strained my back on the roller blades at the SB skate park on xmas afternoon.  Saturday looked pretty mellow.  More development than I'd prefer, but the air was smooth.

Was hoping for an early go, but a line of showers was marching through SB from the south.  Kept an eye on the radar loop every hour or so, and finally looked like a hole around midday, so I grabbed Sharon and we made a run.  I was suppose to do a tandem, but with the weather looking wet I begged off.  Got to Parma about 20 minutes after the rain stopped, and was surprised to see a number of pilots at Parma.  Headed up with a full truck in Topa Chase with Sharon for crew.

First flight on a new harness from Eagle, but forgot to switch my compass over.  The Spin Doctor took pity and offered his.  The low dropping cloudbase looked threatening, so I gladly accepted.  Got off in a fading cycle around 1 ish.  Climbed easily and took the buoyant glide to the R&R, but cloudbase was too low so I returned to buzz launch.

The Spin Doctor was circling out front.  Had just enough visibility for 2, but no room to climb, so I went for the Holy Hills hoping for enough to reach the Training Hill.  The drift was from the SE, but I could only get into the low to mid 3s.  It was getting dark, and starting to rain.  The lift was shutting down, so I took my glide toward the west end of the Riveria, hoping to get lucky.  Flew through some rain on the way, but it was dry on the ocean side.  Got over the Mission with a grand, but no luck.

Put down on one of the soccer fields behind the Mission.  Packed up on a slope to avoid the puddles.  Walked to the Mission steps to wait for the chase.  Topa Chase tore a side wall on the one of the many rocks in the road on the way down, but Sharon was able to limp to the bottom of the hill.  Ron changed the tire and they collected me.

We considered heading back up, but it would be after 3 by the time we launched, so we opted for lunch and football at Ron & Elizabeth's house.  Turned out that it cleared after 3 pm and the range looked pretty good in the late afternoon sun.
