Marshall Peak

A check of the soundings Friday morning indicated Santa Barbara was the place to be but I couldn't NOT go get my new glider, especially considering the fact I had to be back in Palmdale at 2:30pm.  So Marshall it was.

The only activity was the Wills Wing gang doing multiple rounds test flying hang gliders.  I figured I only had time for a single flight and hung out until the experts on the blade wings were starting to sustain.  I pulled up the Astral 4 at noon and finally headed out for a landing at 12:45, to be mobile again at 1 pm.

I really liked the A3.  Aside from the cosmetic changes, the A4 has some new features that evolved from the Mistral 3.  Additionally, the number and overall length of suspension lines has been cut substantially.  The fewer lines and skinny risers cut down on the parasitic drag and it really seems to cruise on full speedbar.
