Monday, 9/6/04, Labor Day Dean's post titled "You Missed It" seems to be accurate for those who went up the following day with aspirations of big air and big miles. Don't get me wrong here, today was a pretty good day with pilots reporting close to 3k over launch, but the lift had changed from the previous day and it just didn't have that GO XC feel to it. I launched almost last with the intent to just see how high I could get and then boat out over Ojai, and that's exactly what I did. Topped out at 7400 then headed Southwest over town in the general direction of home. Had 3500 over the high school but hit a pretty strong headwind over the mesa South of the school and watched my glide ratio drop to 2:1 which ruled out landing at the house so I backtracked to a church schoolyard for an easy landing.
