Fading Post Frontal. The day before was premium, with good lapse rate and some post frontal west wind building in the afternoon. Wednesday was a bit weaker on the lapse rate. There was some left over north wind in the morning, but the day blocked and the wind at altitude was minimal. The altitudes were good enough. Early on, SB was good to forty five hundred. Mid 3s along Castle Ridge. 4K+ along Power Line Ridge. 5K at Noon. Mid 5s through The Pass. Cloudbase in Ojai was about 6K, and Santa Paula Ridge was also good for 6.
There was more moisture early. The 6K temp climbed a bit from 4 to 6°C through the day, and the clouds on the front range lifted and retreated behind the coast range.
There was still some wind coming around Point Conception, and it appeared there was a big convergence on the NW edge of the block.
It was soarable down low early, but didn't block up at the Skyport till about 10ish, and even later off to the NW. There were initially 2 levels of clouds. The lower stuff out front started about 2K and lifted to 4ish. The stuff coming off the higher points was higher early and then lowered some. It was mixing with the north wind above and some of it was drifting from the north at about 10 to 15 knots. The two layers finally merged, and the north wind was completely blocked on the front range from SB eastward.
Early going was against light SE down lower, but the west did seem to come through.
Thermals were a bit strong mid day.
