Hello to All!

Friday is fast approaching and there are some FAQ’s that need answering.

  • WHEN WILL WE KNOW IF THE TRIP IS ON?
    • Probably sometime Wednesday or maybe Thursday. We will post on the SCPA and I’ll Email everyone.
  • WHERE WILL WE MEET ON SATURDAY?
    • Meet at Whitney Café, the corner of 395 and Whitney Portal Road at 8:00 AM. Plan on a long day of flying Walts in the morning and Gunter, Piute or Flynn's in the afternoon.
  • WHAT VEHICLES ARE WE USING?
    • We have 3 official vehicles. Two Suburbans and Mark Pratt’s car. Bob H. is driving his van, Tom P. is driving his car, Chris P. is driving, Brendan is driving. Brendan is going Thursday, Chris and Bob on Friday morning and the Suburban is leaving Carp at 4:30 PM on Friday.
  • WHERE ARE PEOPLE STAYING?
    • I reserved rooms for Tom, myself, Dan & Mark, Ron & Tom P., Benson & Bob and Rob Sporrer at the Best Western in Lone Pine for Friday night. We can be found at 1008 South Main Street. Reservations are under Sweeney, use your own credit card when you arrive please. If you are arriving after 4:00 PM give them a call at 760 876-5571 to confirm that you are coming.
    • I reserved rooms at the Ramada at 155 E. Elm Street in Bishop for Saturday and Sunday night. Rooms are reserved for Tom, myself, Tom P. & Ron, Mark and Dan, Bob H. & Benson. The number there is 760 872-1771. They will hold the room until 7:00PM. Call them if you will be later so you can hold your room. Give them a credit card of your own please.
  • WHO’S GOING?
    • So far no one has dropped out. The original 13 are Chris P., Bob H., Dan K., Benson, Ron F., Tom P., Brendan, Casey, Sharon, Hesham, Mark P., Art and Randall. By the way, Tom P. has invented a new way to untwist twisted lines on launch. It’s fascinating to watch! Ask him for a demonstration anytime.
  • WHO’S DRIVING?
    • Fast Eddie and Chris G. will play the starring roles. Robb will drive or have one of his other instructors drive.
    • The third car will be headed up by Rob Sporrer. Confirmed are Robb, of course, Alan King, Sylvia, Paul, and John Kloer.
  • MAPS
    • You will be provided with maps of the area and a map made to fly with.
  • WHAT TO BRING?
    • Water ( a gallon per day), power bars, warm clothes, gloves, hat, sun-block, radio, radio chargers, GPS (and Instruction book if you don’t know how to put a Go To on your GPS), vario, cell phone, cell phone chargers, batteries.
    • CELL PHONES
      • Please look up your colleagues cell phone numbers on the roster and put them into your phone complete with area code.
    • USHGA CARD
      • Please bring this card as it gives you access to all the sites without question. It also covers any liability and insurance questions.
